Cake: A Love Story – J. Bengtsson

Oh wow, I absolutely loved this story!!!!

Jake McKallister was a rock star who survived a harrowing kidnapping when he was a teenager. He made it and focused his life on his music. As his star rose, so did the mystery to the man. Jake kept to himself, never allowing himself to get close to anyone. He never gave interviews and most people felt that he was a recluse and a guarded workaholic.

Casey Caldwell, a rambunctious college student got paired with Jake for a friend’s wedding. Casey was majoring in Accounting and was part of the big nerd group on campus. Not overly popular, Casey has a great sense of humor.

When they initially meet, there was that awkward silence between them. What could they possibly have in common, right? Casey decides to break the ice and prank Jake. He arrived late at the wedding rehearsal and Casey tried to catch him up on what he missed. She informs him about the dance that was required of the wedding party as the group walks out of the church. Jake practically turns green and says “Are you kidding me?” He doesn’t dance apparently.

They are two opposites from each other but somehow found their way together.

The story is well written, the characters are very well developed and I laughed and cried throughout the book. This story really spoke to me. I would recommend this one to anyone! I absolutely loved it!!!
