Halston has had a rough life with drug dealing parents, foster homes and now she lives with her aunt, uncle and cousin. She is just trying to figure life out and how to survive so she can get out of their house. Her wealthy uncle holds paying for her college over her head and she needs to last the remainder of the year for that to happen. Ford is a twenty something principle who has landed his dream job at the school Halston’s uncle is the administrator of. Halston and Ford meet thru a dating app. Ford has sworn off commitment to any woman. They both use the dating app to chat, email and eventually talk on the phone. Both end up feeling more than they should for each other. Then the school year starts and Halston and Ford eventually meet each other in person. Ford is the principal of the school Halston attends as a senior.  Ford tries to act professional toward Halston but pretty soon it is useless. Then everything changes. Flash forward 5 years and they reconnect again. But can they get through the anger and issues to forgive one another to be together?

This was a great read and you really feel the characters authentic feelings throughout the book. The story is a dual point of view and both characters are trying to get thru their lives doing the best they can with the circumstances.
